Feast of Saint Padre Pio Celebrated with Devotion at Assisi Nilaya, Moodubelle
Assisi Nilaya joyfully celebrated the feast of St Padre Pio, the patron of Assisi Nilaya, on 24 September 2026. In preparation for the feast, three days of novena prayers were held, with Holy Mass at 5:00 p.m. followed by the novena prayers to St Padre Pio. On these days, Fr. Praksh Lobo OFM Cap and Fr. Manohar Dsouza OFM Cap enlightened us more about St. Padre Pio.
Assisi Nilaya is a spiritual centre served by the Capuchin priests, where brothers pursuing their religious formation and studies also reside. The centre is supported by the generous cooperation of the local faithful, who contribute through their prayers, offerings and financial assistance. The daily celebration of Holy Mass, especially the morning Eucharist, provides the faithful with an opportunity to begin each day in prayer and communion with God.
The feast day Mass was celebrated at 6:00 p.m. by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Parish Priest of Udyavar. Around 200 faithful and 20 priests joined the celebration, making it a memorable occasion of prayer and fellowship. Following the Mass, a fellowship meal was served to all the participants.
We express our sincere gratitude to our ward members, who worked generously and supported the celebration in various ways. We are also grateful to all our benefactors and friends, both within and outside the parish, whose support and cooperation contributed greatly to the success of the feast.
The feast celebration at Assisi Nilaya was not merely a religious observance but also a joyful expression of faith, prayer, community and generosity. The presence and support of the local faithful continue to strengthen the ministry and mission of the Capuchin community at Assisi Nilaya.
The celebration concluded with hearts filled with gratitude and renewed faith, as the devotees returned to their homes inspired by the life and example of Saint Padre Pio, seeking to follow his path of prayer, sacrifice and love for God and others.
We assure all of them our continued prayers and present their intentions every day before the Lord through the intercession of St Padre Pio.
